Nicole was born in Timmins, Ontario. She was raised and spent a large part of her life in Temiskaming, in a small town called Earlton. Her mother, an artist in her own right (sculptor Rose-Aimée Bélanger) influenced Nicole’s artistic career. Nicole has been creative in painting, sculpture, ceramic or painted murals. She graduated from a masters in visual arts from Norwich University in Vermont.
In recent years her work has taken on a distinctive direction, where a visual tension in her work comes from the pull between the theatrical photography and the painterly quality of painting on her photographs. Beyond all other considerations, Nicole’s main preoccupation in her work is the relationship between the line and the colour based on a narrative or an allegorical connotation.
